India’s Jai Shah is the new chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). This was stated by the highest governing body of world cricket in a press release on Tuesday (August 27).
It is known that today was the last day to submit nomination papers for the post of chairman. 35-year-old Jai Shah was elected unopposed as ICC chairman as no one else submitted nomination papers. He is the youngest chairman in the history of ICC. The Indian cricket organizer will be in this position for 6 years.
Jai Shah is currently serving as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He will take charge from December 1 when the term of the current ICC chairman Greg Barkle expires in November this year.
In response to becoming the new chairman of the ICC, Jai Shah said, “I am very happy to be the chairman of the ICC.” I and my team will work for the development of cricket across the world.
