A Qatari expatriate named Rashid Ahmed lost his life in a clash over children’s quarrel in Kanaighat, Sylhet. The incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning in Khalopar village in Rajaganj Union of Kanaighat upazila. Rashid is the son of the deceased Ana Mia of that village.
According to police and local sources, Rashid Ahmed and his neighbors Raju Ahmed (22) and Saju Ahmed (18), sons of the deceased Ahi Hossain, had an argument over a children’s quarrel. At one point, when he went to the house around 4 am on Monday, an argument broke out between the two parties. During this, Rashid suffered stab wounds to his body. Later, locals rescued him and sent him to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
In this regard, Abdul Awal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanaighat Police Station, said, “No case has been filed in this incident so far. No one has been arrested. However, the operation to catch the criminals is ongoing.”
