Srimangal Municipality announces budget for 2025-26 financial year

Srimangal Municipality of Moulvibazar has announced a budget of Tk 555.75 million for the 2025-26 financial year. This year’s budget has given more importance to the water sector.

On Tuesday (July 15), the open budget was announced at the Mohsin Auditorium at noon – Municipal Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Islam Uddin.

In his welcome speech at the budget announcement ceremony, the Executive Engineer of the Municipality Md. Zahirul Islam highlighted the various possibilities of the municipality and the citizen facilities. Present at the time were Municipality Secretary Mahbubul Alam Patwary, members of the Municipality Management Support Committee, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Cynthia Tasmin, Upazila Engineer Yusuf Hossain Khan, Social Service Officer Shoib Hossain Chowdhury, Upazila Primary Education Officer Rafiqul Islam, Youth Development Officer Asim Kumar Kar and other officials of the municipality.

The budget session was moderated by Municipal Social Development Officer Md. Azizul Haque.

The open discussion of the budget program was addressed by Ayan Chowdhury, Headmaster of Srimangal Victoria High School, Md. Yakub Ali, former General Secretary of Srimangal Upazila BNP and one of the members of the current Upazila BNP Convening Committee, and business leader Shahin Ahmed.

At the budget program, Municipal Administrator Md. Islam Uddin said, “Most of the places in Srimangal are still in the red zone in terms of sanitation. We want to work in those places. Since Srimangal is an undeveloped tourist area, we are thinking of doing more work on beautification of the city, public toilets and drainage system.” He said that the highest expenditure in this year’s budget has been allocated to the development, infrastructure and water supply sectors.
