Six leaders of Narail district and upazila BNP have been expelled for supporting an independent (call symbol) MP candidate in Narail-2 constituency in the 13th National Parliament election.
It is learnt that six leaders of Narail Municipality BNP and Sadar Upazila BNP and Lohagara Municipality BNP and Upazila BNP with the rank of president and general secretary are working in support of the newly expelled general secretary of the district BNP and independent MP candidate in Narail-2 constituency Md. Monirul Islam.
The decision was confirmed in a press release signed by BNP Central Committee Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at around 11 am on Tuesday (January 27).
The expelled are – Narail Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Palash, Municipal BNP President Telayet Hossain, Lohagara Upazila BNP President Ahaduzzaman Batu, General Secretary Kazi Sultanuzzaman Selim, Lohagara Municipal BNP President Milu Sharif and General Secretary Moshiar Rahman Santu.
The press release stated that the leaders mentioned in the press release under Narail district have been expelled from all levels of posts, including primary membership, of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP for their involvement in anti-organizational activities.
It is learned that after the withdrawal of BNP’s party nomination in Narail-2 constituency, District BNP General Secretary Md. Monirul Islam participated in the election as an independent candidate. Organizational action has been taken against the leaders concerned on the charge of supporting him.
In this regard, Lohagara Upazila BNP President Ahaduzzaman Batu said that their respect and loyalty to the party’s decisions will always be there. He claimed that they did not participate in any kind of campaign against the paddy sheaf.
It is worth noting that in Narail-2 constituency, BNP nominated candidates Dr. AZM Fariduzzaman Farhad (paddy sheaf symbol), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ataur Rahman Bachchu (scale symbol), Islami Andolan Bangladesh Principal Maulana Tajul Islam (fan symbol), Jatiya Party’s Khandaker Fayequzzaman Firoz (plough symbol), Ganodhikar Parishad (GOP) Noor Islam (truck symbol), Bangladesh Cultural Liberation Front, Md. Shoaib Ali (rod symbol) and independent candidates Md. Monirul Islam (coal symbol) and Farida Yasmin (ship symbol) are contesting the election. The 13th National Parliament elections will be held in the country on February 12.
