Eight more children have died with symptoms of measles across the country in the last 24 hours; however, there were no confirmed deaths due to measles during this period. This brings the total number of deaths—attributed to both confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms—to 1,122 between March 15 and October 3.
This information was disclosed in a press release issued yesterday, Saturday, by the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The release stated that there were 1,109 suspected measles cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 195,197 for the period between March 15 and October 3.
There were 43 confirmed measles cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 21,666. Between March 15 and October 1, a total of 173,024 people were hospitalized with suspected measles, while 167,756 recovered and were discharged during the same period.
