In a raid conducted by the Shahparan (Rah) Mazar Police Investigation Center in Sylhet, the police have arrested two people with a huge amount of illegal Indian cosmetics worth over half a crore taka.

On Sunday (December 29) at around 9:30 pm, a raid was conducted in the Surma Gate Bypass area and two people were arrested with this huge amount of Indian cosmetics. The estimated market value of the seized goods is 51,17,000 taka.

It is learned that the police received a secret tip-off on Sunday night about a consignment of smuggled Indian goods being smuggled from the border area of ​​Jaintapur. Based on that information, a raid was conducted in the Surma Gate Bypass point area at around 9:30 pm. During this, the truck was seized along with various types of cosmetics. Two people were arrested. The arrested accomplices gave a confessional statement to the police stating that the owner of the goods was Rahmat Ullah.

The arrested are Abdul Rashid (38), son of the late Abul Kashem of Shyampur (Pashchimpara) village of Katakhali police station in Rajshahi district, and Md. Sumon Ali (44), son of Entaz Ali of Kharkhari village of Chandrima in the same district.

Under the direction of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner, the operation was led by SI (retd) Md. Sanaul Islam of Shahparan (Rah) Mazar Police Investigation Center under the supervision of the Officer-in-Charge of Shahparan (Rah) Police Station.

The Officer-in-Charge of Shahparan (Rah) Police Station confirmed the truth of this matter on the mobile phone. He said that the police is vocal against these irregularities and corruption.
