A collision between a Laguna and a gas-powered autorickshaw CNG occurred in Shantiganj upazila of Sunamganj district. Two people including a child were killed and 6 more passengers were injured in the incident.

The accident took place on the Gagli Dirai-Sunamganj regional highway in Joykals union of the upazila around noon on Thursday (July 24).

The deceased are Pradyut Chakraborty (35), son of Pratul Ranjan Chakraborty of Dhulpashi village in Dirai upazila, and Humaira Begum (4), daughter of Hasan Ali of Kadirpur Dhal village.

The injured are Jyotish Das (26), son of Sarat Das of Bhangador village in Dirai upazila, Hasan Mia (35), son of Idris Ali of Sadipur village, Sufia Begum (18), daughter of deceased Abdul Hasim of Kadirpur Dhal village, Nasir Uddin (30), son of Nur Islam of Boglakhara village in Shantiganj upazila, Rubel Mia (25), son of deceased Shahid Mia of Wejkhali village in Sunamganj Sadar upazila, and Badal Mia (40), son of deceased Idris Ali of Abripur village in Kaliajuri upazila of Netrokona district.

According to local and police sources, a Sunamganj-bound Laguna collided head-on with a Dirai-bound gas-powered autorickshaw in Gagli area around noon. The CNG driver died on the spot. Locals rescued 7 passengers who were seriously injured and sent them to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment. One of them, a child, died while undergoing treatment after being taken to the hospital. The others are undergoing treatment.
