A preparatory meeting was held under the initiative of the Sylhet District Administration to organize the upcoming World Tourism Day 2026 celebration on September 27. The meeting took place yesterday, Wednesday (September 23), morning at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Presided over and moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Masud Rana, the meeting was attended by Mahmuda Sultana (Deputy Director, Local Government Division), Rafiq Uddin (Deputy Director, District Department of Social Services), Humayun Kabir Liton (President, Tour Operators Association of Sylhet), Abdul Wahid (Manager, Tourism Corporation Sylhet Unit), and Ranjan Samanta (Inspector, Tourist Police), along with representatives from various relevant organizations and institutions.

Also present at the meeting were Golzar Ahmad Helal (President, Online Press Club); Subarna Hamid (President) and Shakila Bobby (General Secretary) of the Women Journalists Club; Fakhrul Islam (President, Tourism Industry Association); Delwar Hossain Rana (Senior Vice-President) and Abdul Ahad (Treasurer) of the Sylhet Tourism Club; Maksud Ahmad (President) and Mazharul Islam Sadi (General Secretary) of the Tourist Club; Enamul Kabir (President, Tour Guide Association of Greater Sylhet); and Reshma Jannat (Member, Women’s Chamber).

Decisions were made during the meeting to observe various day-long programs on World Tourism Day, September 27. The scheduled activities include a bicycle rally at 7:00 AM, a cleanliness drive at 8:00 AM, a rally at 10:00 AM, and a discussion meeting at 10:30 AM.

The meeting sought the cooperation of all—including relevant government and private institutions, tourism-related organizations, media personnel, and the general public—to ensure the success of the World Tourism Day programs.
