Police have recovered the hanging body of an NCP leader from his residence in Dharmapasha Upazila, Sunamganj.

Rafiqul Islam, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dharmapasha Police Station, stated that the body was recovered around 9:30 PM on Thursday from his home in Paschimpara village within the Upazila town.

The deceased, Shahin Kadir (48), was the Joint Convener of the Dharmapasha Upazila NCP and the son of the late Sunu Kadir.

Citing relatives, the police reported that Shahin had entered his bedroom and locked the door around 8:00 PM. Later, despite being called for dinner, there was no response from him.

Subsequently, relatives broke down the door, found him hanging from a roof beam, and informed the police.

SI Rafiqul Islam said he was found hanging from a bamboo beam with a *gamchha* (traditional cotton towel) wrapped around his neck. Preliminary indications suggest it was a case of suicide.

The SI added that preparations are underway to send the body to the Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
