Two children have died by drowning in Chougachha, Jashore. The incident occurred yesterday, Sunday, around 5 PM in Phulsara village of the upazila.
The deceased have been identified as Abu Huraira (4), son of Arif Hossain Dhali of Phulsara village, and his nephew Mahmud Hasan (3), son of Asaduzzaman Shanto of Rohelapur village in Kashimpur Union, Jashore Sadar Upazila.
Mamunur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chougachha Police Station, confirmed the incident.
According to reports, the two children were playing in the courtyard of their home around 5 PM on Sunday. Unnoticed by family members, they fell into a nearby pond. When the children could not be found, relatives began searching for them. Eventually, they spotted the children floating in the pond and retrieved them. They were taken to Chougachha Anisuzzaman Hospital, where the attending physician declared them dead.
