Today is the 3rd death anniversary of Sylhet’s veteran journalist and senior member of the Sylhet Press Club Z. M. Shamsul. Z. M. Shamsul died of a heart attack at the age of 63 on this day, January 24, 2022.

Although journalist Z. M. Shamsul’s village home was in Paschim Khalachhara village of Zakiganj, he lived alone in Sylhet city. His family lived in the house. He was a very simple and always smiling person, he wished for the welfare of people all his life.

Z. M. Shamsul’s work:- Z. M. Shamsul was an inseparable name of the Sylhet Press Club. He lived a very simple and simple life. Shamsul spent most of the day at the Sylhet Press Club. He saw the Sylhet Press Club as his own home.

He would extend a helping hand to anyone who came to the club for advice on press conferences or news. Sometimes, when he went to the quiet and secluded press club, he would be seen sitting alone. Sometimes resting on the sofa. Sometimes writing news to himself.

Life Story-

ZM Shamsul, who lived a very simple and simple life, had a bicycle and a diary as his companions. His diary was kept in the carrier behind the bicycle. He also carried an umbrella. In this busy city, ZM Shamsul’s bicycle would move from one lane to another in the crowd of thousands of vehicles.

He would collect news and return to the Sylhet Press Club. He would write news. In the evening, he would come to his workplace, “Dainik Kazir Bazar” newspaper office with the day’s news. He was also involved as the Sylhet correspondent of the English national daily Morning Glory. Along with journalism, he was a life partner of the left party politics.

Wanted-
After ZM Shamsul, many people entered the journalistic profession. Many people used to write news under his name and run it under their own name. However, ZM Shamsul was a member of the Sylhet Press Club until his death.

He was not allowed to rise from this position because he did not have the intelligence to make money or someone played with his poverty or simplicity.

Many people became rich from the same profession, buying new models of expensive cars, all this was before Shamsul’s eyes. But he was steadfast, he had only one addiction and that was to create news for the welfare of the people.

It is known that in his journalistic career, he never wrote a single line criticizing anyone except good news. However, others used him to create news and earn money. Because Shamsul knew the tricks of the news.

The last person to do journalism in this mechanical Sylhet city by riding a broken bicycle, ZM Shamsul, was working as a senior reporter for the daily Kazirbazar and the national daily Morning Glory until his death.
