A schoolgirl named Ripa Bunarji (14) was killed in a landslide in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, while she was trying to bring soil from a hill for her homework. Another person was injured in the incident.
The deceased schoolgirl Ripa Bunarji is the daughter of Shyamal Bunarji of the southern line area of Baghachhara Tea Garden in Islampur Union of the upazila. She was a seventh-grade student of Islampur Paddha Memorial High School.
According to local sources, on Friday (February 14) at around 4 pm, she went to Section No. 11 of Baghachhara Tea Garden with PC Jyotika Bunarji and Sabita Bunarji to bring soil for her homework. While digging the soil under the hill, the soil suddenly collapsed and buried Ripa and her PC Jyotika under the soil.
At that time, Sabita Bunarji tried to rescue them but failed and ran to the area to inform them. Later, around 5 pm, the locals rescued them from the bottom of the hill and by then Ripa was dead. At that time, Jyotika Bunarji was sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, Kamalganj Police Station police went to the spot in the evening after receiving the news.
Kamalganj Police Station SI Ziaul Haque confirmed the truth and said, we recovered the body and sent it to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue that night.
