The Bangladesh team has advanced to the semi-finals of the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship. They defeated Thailand 42-27 in the last match of the group stage. Bangladesh’s opponent in the final is host Iran.

Their semi-final match will start at 7:30 pm Bangladesh time today, Friday. Earlier, India’s opponent in the first semi-final at 6:30 pm is Nepal.

Bangladesh is assured of its first Asian women’s kabaddi bronze medal by advancing to the semi-finals. Former national team player Shahnaz Parveen Maleka is the coach of the Bangladesh women’s team in Iran. She said from Iran, ‘This is a proud moment for Bangladesh’s kabaddi. Although I participated in this tournament as a player, I could not win a medal. Today, my dream as a coach has come true. Pray for us. We hope to reach the final by defeating Iran in the semi-finals.’

Meanwhile, favourites India have secured a place in the semi-finals of the Asian Women’s Kabaddi by winning all their matches as the ‘A’ Group champions. In their last match in the group, they defeated Malaysia by a huge margin of 73-19 points. The runner-up team was yet to be determined.

Both Bangladesh and Thailand lost to India. However, both teams defeated Malaysia. Therefore, Bangladesh and Thailand were tied on points in the group. As a result, the match between Bangladesh and Thailand became an unannounced quarter-final.

Despite the prospect of a close fight, Bangladesh was ahead by 9 points in the first half. Bangladesh went into the break with 22 points and Thailand with 13 points. Bangladesh maintained the same rhythm in the second half. Thailand could not come back in the match. Bangladesh defeated Thailand by 42-27 points and entered the last four.
