An Iftar mahfil and exchange of views meeting was held by the Haji Selim Foundation in honor of journalists from Srimangal and Kamalganj in Moulvibazar.
The meeting held at the premises of Haji Selim Hafiziya Madrasa in Satgaon of the upazila on Friday (March 28) afternoon was presided over by Haji Selim Foundation’s Chief Advisor and former UP member of Bhunbir Union Parishad No. 2, Haji Syed Ahmed.
Haji Selim Foundation’s General Secretary Abdul Qadir Jilani and journalist Md. Al-Amin moderated the program and Haji Dulal Mia, co-chairman of the foundation, spoke at the program.
Among the journalists, the acting president of Srimangal Press Club, AFM Abdul Hai Don, joint general secretary Syed Abu Jafar Salauddin, treasurer and representative of Khola Kagoj, Ehsan Bin Mujahir, Kamalganj journalist Abdul Basit Khan, Salauddin Shuvo, and others spoke.
At the meeting, the general secretary of the organization, Abdul Qadir Jilani, said that Haji Selim Foundation started its journey in 2019 with a commitment to the welfare of humanity. Since its establishment, this voluntary organization has implemented multifaceted activities for the welfare of humanity and society. The organization is still working for the welfare of the poor, helpless and distressed people of the society. Especially during the Corona period, it has extended a helping hand to the people in distress. Distribution of winter clothes to the cold-stricken people during the winter season, distribution of iftar and food packages to the helpless poor during Ramadan, distribution of financial grants and relief materials to the people in danger including sending relief to Turkey during natural disasters, distribution of relief in various areas of flood-hit Moulvibazar and Sylhet, house construction activities among the homeless, financial assistance to poor and helpless families at weddings, distribution of tube wells to poor families, installation of deep tube wells in mosques and temples, establishment and donation of land to various madrasas and schools, distribution of scholarships and educational materials to students of various institutions, distribution of turbans, cash grants, and crests among the Hafizs of Haji Selim Hafizia Madrasa, distribution of Eid gifts and food items to Imams and Muazzins during Ramadan, construction of Eidgahs in Bhunbir-Layarkul Purangaon, etc., are continuing in these areas. In addition, a one-time donation has been distributed for the treatment of those injured in the July Revolution during the mass uprising of the students. The organization has been organizing Iftar for more than a hundred fasting people every day since 1st Ramadan for the past 4 years.
Incidentally, the Haji Selim Foundation was founded in 2019 by the chairman of the Al-Sarki Group of Companies, a Qatari expatriate. He is the founder of the Haji Selim Foundation, Haji Selim Hafiziya Madrasa and Orphanage, and an industrial entrepreneur.
