Mehdi Hasan Miraj’s whirlwind Pakistan could not score big in the first innings of the second Test. Miraj broke the back of Pakistan’s batting lineup by picking up five wickets alone. His magical bowling finally bowled out the hosts for 274 runs.
Opener Abdullah Shafiq was picked up by Taskin Ahmed in the first over of the Pakistan innings. The batsman made his way to Sajghar before opening the run book in his excellent delivery in the last ball of the first over.
However, the other opener Saim Ayyub and Shan Masood handled the initial shock by forming a pair for the second wicket. Pakistan dream of a big score in their pair of fifties. However, Mirage single-handedly picked up both and put Bangladesh in the driver’s seat.
Ayyub was stumped by Mirage for 58 runs. Skipper Masud scored 57 runs and fell into the leg before trap. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan got off to a good start but could not take the innings forward.
In the end, Salman Agar’s 54-run fighting innings left Pakistan with two-and-a-half. Mirage shook the hosts with 5 wickets for 61 runs. Pacer Taskin Ahmed returned to the team with this test taking 3 wickets.
In reply, Bangladesh ended the day with 10 runs without a wicket.
