A 9th grade student has died in a lightning strike in Gowainghat, Sylhet.
He died on the spot after being struck by lightning while working in his field near his house on Thursday (July 24) morning.
The deceased student is Jamil Ahmed Nabil (14), son of Jalal Uddin of Kurihai (Landu) village in Purba Alirgaon Union of Gowainghat Upazila. He was a 9th grade student of Alirgaon High School.
It is learned that Nabil was working in the paddy field like other days around 7:30 am to help his family. At that time, when a sudden storm and rain started, he was struck by lightning.
Tofail Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gowainghat Police Station, confirmed the truth of this matter.
