Secret attacks are being carried out to thwart the election: Mirza Fakhrul

Dhaka //

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that secret attacks are being carried out to thwart the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.

He made this comment in a statement on Friday (January 23) afternoon.

Miscreants shot Hasan Molla (42), General Secretary of Hazratpur Union BNP in Keraniganj Model Upazila, in front of the party office in Keraniganj, Dhaka, yesterday (January 22) night.

In the statement, Mirza Fakhrul expressed deep concern over the shooting of BNP leader Hasan Molla in Keraniganj.

Strongly condemning and protesting the incident, the BNP Secretary General said, “The miscreants who have been lurking after the fall of the Awami dictatorial ruling group in the student-public movement are once again creating an unstable situation in the country and causing various kinds of anarchy.” There is no alternative to identifying Hasan Molla’s attackers and bringing them under the law and giving them strict punishment. Otherwise, they can cause even bigger sabotage.’

He said, ‘People of all classes and professions, regardless of party or opinion, must remain united to protect the lives and property of the people of the country, including establishing democracy and the right of people to vote. The increasingly deteriorating law and order situation must be improved. To ensure free and fair elections, the government must ensure a fearless environment in the country.’

In the statement, Mirza Fakhrul strongly demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the attackers of Hasan Molla and other leaders and activists. At the same time, the BNP Secretary General wished a speedy recovery to the injured including Hasan Molla and expressed deep sympathy for their families and relatives.
