Leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations—whose activities are currently banned—held a flash procession in the capital’s Gulshan area. Police detained two individuals from the procession and reported recovering five crude bombs from their possession.

The two arrested individuals are Abdur Rahim (49) and Md. Arafat (20).

Md. Daud Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station, confirmed this information to the media on Friday afternoon (September 11).

Daud Hossain stated that around 11:45 AM on Friday, 150 to 200 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliates gathered in an alley off Road No. 3 in Gulshan and attempted to stage a procession. When the police moved to disperse them, the participants hurled crude bombs at the officers. Police subsequently fired two rubber bullets to bring the situation under control and disperse the crowd.

The OC added that two participants were arrested, and five crude bombs were recovered from them. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are underway, and the law-and-order situation is currently normal.
