Jamaat Ameer opens up about Mustafizur Rahman

Satkhira Correspondent //

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has described the exclusion of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an ‘extreme insult’.

He said this while addressing the Jamaat-e-Islami election rally at the Satkhira Government Boys’ School ground on Tuesday (January 27) afternoon as the chief guest.

He said, ‘This cricket has enlightened you in the world, enlightened Bangladesh – Mustafiz; right? This boy was not allowed to go to a friendly match by a neighboring country. This is an extreme insult to the country and to cricket.’

The Jamaat Ameer also said, ‘The Bangladesh Cricket Board has withdrawn its decision to go to India to play T20s again in such an embarrassing situation. The demand was that ‘Let this game be in Sri Lanka, we will go’. The Cricket Board (ICC) did not accept this demand; We are sorry, we are ashamed.’

Shafiqur Rahman said to the ICC, ‘There is still time, we request you to review your decision.’

It is worth noting that on January 3, the BCCI decided to exclude Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL in the face of threats from some extremist groups. After that incident, the BCB announced that the Bangladesh team would not go to India to play the T20 World Cup, citing security concerns.

After that, the ICC-BCB met several times. After the ICC meeting on Wednesday, Bangladesh was given 24 hours to withdraw from its decision not to play the World Cup in India. Then on Thursday (January 23), Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul met with the cricketers. After the meeting, he said that they would stand by their decision.

Then the ICC excluded Bangladesh from the World Cup. The world cricket governing body chose Scotland as an alternative for the Tigers.
