As part of his participation in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The meeting took place on Thursday (local time) on the 27th floor of the UN Secretariat Building. Discussions covered cooperation between Bangladesh and the United Nations, various significant global and regional matters, and issues of mutual interest.

Views were exchanged on a range of topics, including Bangladesh’s development trajectory, addressing the impacts of climate change, finding a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis, and the country’s continued contributions to UN peacekeeping, security, and development activities.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman highlighted the importance of UN cooperation and support regarding Bangladesh’s priorities and interests. At the same time, he reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, and the goals of peace and sustainable development.

The UN Secretary-General emphasized the importance of further advancing the long-standing cooperative relationship between the United Nations and Bangladesh. Both sides expressed their resolve to continue mutual cooperation and work closely to address shared global challenges.
