Prime Minister Tarique Rahman delivered a speech in Bangla at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He began his address at the UN headquarters in New York at approximately 6:20 PM local time on Thursday (4:20 AM Friday, Bangladesh time).

Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman is presiding over the session.

In his speech, Tarique Rahman emphasized that the resolution of any conflict should be achieved through dialogue, diplomatic processes, and mutual cooperation.

He stated that equality, fairness, the protection of mutual interests, and the upholding of dignity and respect should form the foundation of bilateral or multilateral relations.

The Prime Minister expressed Bangladesh’s aspiration for a peaceful and humane global society where reason, diplomacy, education, and humanity—rather than lethal weapons—serve as the instruments of change.

He further stated that Bangladesh envisions the United Nations as the central hub for establishing such a harmonious global society.

Tarique Rahman identified the global trend of diverting development budgets toward military sectors as an impediment to world peace.

He affirmed that, as a peace-loving nation, Bangladesh remains committed to the goals of comprehensive and general disarmament, the prevention of nuclear proliferation, and arms control.

The Prime Minister concluded his speech by reiterating Bangladesh’s support for any UN initiative aimed at fostering global humanity and world peace.
