Due to batting failure, Bangladesh left before the semi-finals of the ninth season of T20 World Cup. Bangladesh was knocked out of the World Cup after losing two consecutive matches against two former champions Australia and India out of three matches in the Super Eight.

India posted a challenging score of 196 for 5 against Bangladesh with the responsible batting of Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dubey and Rohit Sharma batting first at Antigar North Sound in West Indies on Saturday.

Chasing the target, the Tigers could not score more than 146 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs, falling under the bowling cannon of Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. India won by 50 runs. With this victory, India took a step forward on the way to the semi-finals by seeing off Bangladesh.

Bangladesh won the toss and sent India to bat first. Before batting, two Indian star openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli started hitting boundaries one after another. Shakib Al Hasan broke the opening pair by dismissing Rohit. Rohit returned to Sazghar with the team’s 39 runs after giving up the catch while hitting the ball of the world’s best all-rounder. Before that, he scored 23 runs in just 11 balls with three fours and one six.

Former captain Virat Kohli continued his batting rampage after Rohit’s dismissal. Tanjim Hassan Shakib pulled his reins. While playing Tanjim’s ball down the wicket, Virat Kohli missed the line and was bowled. He stopped at 37 off 28 balls with one four and three sixes.

Batting at the number four position, Suryakumar Yadav hit a six on the first ball. The star batsman returned with a cut behind in the next ball. A short length ball from Tanjim is caught in the gloves of wicketkeeper Liton Das after an outside-edge. On his departure, India lost the third wicket for the team’s 77 runs in 8.3 overs.

After Suryakumar Yadav got out, Rishabh Pant started batting on the wicket. Rishad Hossain dismissed the Indian wicketkeeper batsman who hit one boundary after another. Panth returned by giving away the catch to his legspin. India lost the fourth wicket for 108 runs in 11.4 overs on his departure.

After that, Shivam Dube made a partnership of 53 runs from 34 balls for the fifth wicket with Hardik Pandya. Rishad Hossain sent Shibom Dubey back as the fifth batsman for the team’s 161 runs in 17.2 overs. Before that, Dubey scored 34 runs with three sixes in 24 balls.

Playing till the last ball of the innings, Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 50 runs with the help of three sixes and four boundaries in 27 balls. Based on his fifty, India posted a challenging score of 196 for 5 in 20 overs.

Young star pacer Tanjim Hasan Shakib took 2 wickets for 32 runs in 4 overs for the Bangladesh team. Leg spinner Rishad Hossain took 2 wickets for 43 runs in 3 overs. Shakib Al Hasan took only 1 wicket for 37 runs in 3 overs. Sheikh Mehdi Hasan spent 28 runs in 4 overs. Mostafizur Rahman did not get any success after spending 48 runs in 4 overs. Mahmudullah Riyad spent only 8 runs in 2 overs.

Chasing the target, opener Liton Kumar Das returned to 35 runs in 4.3 overs. He returned with 13 runs off 10 balls with one four and one six. Opener Tanjid Hasan Tamim made a partnership of 31 runs with captain Nazmul Hossain Shanta, who came down to bat at number three position. He returned with 29 runs off 31 balls with four boundaries.

Batting at the number four position, Tawhid Hriday returned with only 4 runs from 6 balls. Bangladesh’s collection was 98 runs for 3 wickets in 13.2 overs. After that, due to the fall of one wicket after another, Bangladesh could not score more than 48 runs after losing 4 wickets in the last 40 balls.

The Tigers could not score more than 146 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs due to a decline in batting rhythm at the end. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto scored maximum 40 runs in 32 balls with one four and three sixes. Rishad Hossain scored 24 runs in just 10 balls with one four and three sixes. Opener Tanjid Hasan Tamim scored 29 runs off 31 balls.

Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets for just 19 runs in 4 overs for India. Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets for just 13 runs in 4 overs. Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs. Hardik Pandya took one wicket for 32 runs in 3 overs.
