This is the end of the fans’ wait. A joy-festival has arisen among Sanatan religious followers in Habiganj around the arrival of Durga, who has left Kailash and returned to her ancestral home. The 5-day autumn Durgotsava started yesterday morning with Mahasashti. Sharidiya Durgotsav will end on the day of Vijaya Dashami on October 13 with the dedication of idols. However, there is a difference in this year’s puja mandap. The pictures of the flood victims are painted on the walls.
From Wednesday (October 9) morning, every pooja mandap has seen dusk. Atmosphere of worship all around. The idol artists are making the devimurthy charming with paint. As a result, the mandaps are decorated in a new way. The law and order forces of the district are active around Durgotsava. This year, 650 police and 4 thousand 98 Ansar VDP are working to ensure the overall security of the puja in the district. Besides, 4 platoons of the army and additional police in plain clothes will patrol the mandaps. A security zone has been created by the administration. CCTV has been installed around the mandaps.
Meanwhile, the District Puja Celebration Committee is working along with the administration to ensure security. Volunteer teams have been formed in Mandape Mandape. All in all, Durgotsav will be celebrated peacefully in Habiganj this time. So far no inactivity and possibility of untoward incident has been seen.
