M Azizul Jalil, a 1952 language activist and a public figure in the United States who helped shape public opinion in favor of the Liberation War in 1971, has died.
The language activist died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Washington, DC. He was 91 years old at the time of his death.
He was buried at the George Washington Cemetery after a funeral service at the Islamic Community Center Mosque in Potomac, Maryland, on Thursday.
Jalil was born in Jalpaiguri, India, in 1933. After studying at Dhaka University in the country, he pursued higher education at Oxford and Imperial College London in the United Kingdom.
His family includes a wife, three sons, a daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, all of whom are expatriates in the United States.
