Illegal sand extraction in Kushiyara River, administration tries to manage after news is published!

Jewel Chowdhury, District Representative Habiganj //

Illegal sand extraction is going on from the area between Hilal Nagar and Telghari villages of Daulatpur Union No. 5 of Baniachong Upazila of Habiganj. Hundreds of fields and crop lands on the river bank are under threat due to illegal sand extraction by installing dredgers day and night. In addition, roads and ghats in the area are collapsing and houses are being destroyed due to uncontrolled sand extraction. After such news was published in The Daily Morning Sun, the administration was shocked, but for some mysterious reason, the sand extraction festival has not stopped yet. However, a relevant source confirmed that this booming trade is going on with the help of some unscrupulous officials of the local administration after the news was published.

It is known that an influential local group has been extracting sand by installing dredgers in the area between Hilal Nagar and Telghari villages for a long time. And this group is led by Awami League activists Nur Alam, Sumon Mia, Hifzur Rahman and Kajal along with some other influential people in the Ai area.

After the news was published, they are trying to manage the administration.

After investigation, it has been learned that the group has spread its dominance in the area. No one dares to speak against them. Even though they have been illegally extracting sand from the river for a long time, no one dares to speak. Again, even if some people speak, they are tortured. Although the group is illegally extracting sand day after day, the fingers of the group are swollen and banana trees are growing, the government is losing a huge amount of revenue. In such a situation, it is demanded to take action against those involved in illegal sand extraction for the benefit of the local residents.
