The biennial (2025-26) elections of the Sylhet District Press Club are just a day away on December 28. Although 8 candidates have already been elected unopposed, 13 candidates are contesting for 4 more positions. However, there is a storm of discussion and criticism in the media community about Moin Uddin, the editor of ‘Adhunik Kagoj’, who is standing for the post of president. There are a lot of allegations against him.
It is known that Moin Uddin started his career in journalism with the local daily Shyamal Sylhet. Later, he worked in various newspapers, but recently he is serving as the editor of Adhunik Kagoj. But his immoral activities are not leaving him behind. These horrifying facts have come out during the investigation. Already, the faces of him and his associates have been seen going viral on the social media Facebook.
During the fascist Awami League government, the Sylhet District Press Club was turned into the hideout of the Awami League. A syndicate dictatorship panel was formed to protect their interests. With the votes of that panel, some so-called journalists named in that syndicate established Ramrajtva. Many journalists who fell under their attack and cast their votes in a hostage situation. Without verifying the truth, they used their pen to put the opposition party in trouble as they wanted. In short, the multifaceted Moin Jajmia does not hesitate to stage a drama.
They made Jamaat, BNP and Islamic parties slaves by labeling them as extortionists, militants, terrorists, arsonists and bombers and made them the slaves of the Awami League. Its main godfather was Moin Uddin. At that time, two or three other influential so-called journalists accompanied him. They have now become heroes from zero by taking advantage of the simplicity of the common voters. Others are in trouble due to their actions. As always, Moin Uddin and his associates are trying to follow the same path by changing their cover, keeping the December 28 elections in front of them. In the past years, due to their misdeeds, 3-4 senior journalists of Muldhara have voluntarily hidden themselves from the leadership. Many senior Bagha Bagha journalists are also annoyed with their panel activities. The main reason for this was that panel brand group. Currently, they are trying to choose the old path for their own self-defense. Besides, many have no involvement except for a few regular newspapers. The same plight is faced by Moin Uddin of Adhun Kajog. Moin is trying to cross the ocean on a shaky bridge!
Meanwhile, it has been learned that in order to cross the electoral strait, he is trying to make himself a hero by presenting opposite news through various media, as confirmed by the relevant sources. Even with the Press Club elections in front, he is resorting to the same tactics. He is involved in such arrangements to divide the votes. However, it is also true that the newspaper called ‘Adhunik Kagoj’ is currently published irregularly. Yet, he has stood for the post of president of Sylhet District Press Club under the name of that newspaper. Is it questionable whether it is against the constitution of the Press Club to participate in the election? There is a buzz in the journalist community about this.
Ahead of the election, Moin Uddin is not staging a drama in the hope of getting votes, but has he adopted this strategy to defeat another candidate by changing the Awami League label? The whole matter is worrying everyone. Because a couple of days before the election, the voters who were at the press club are planning to cross the border by showing off the news published against him. There, he himself is involved in a deep conspiracy. The panel is working to retain voters and incite others against the opposition candidate, which is needless to say. Perhaps no one can say how far these illusions will go to win the election.
