Fire not under control in Secretariat even after three and a half hours

Dhaka //

The Fire Service received news of a fire in Building No. 7 of the Secretariat at 1:52 am on Wednesday. A couple of minutes later, the Fire Service unit located in the Secretariat started the work of controlling the fire. As the intensity of the fire increased, 18 units of the Fire Service joined the firefighting work one by one.

But even after almost three and a half hours, the fire in the Secretariat has not been brought under control.

A video posted on the Fire Service’s official Facebook page after 5 am shows that fire is burning from one end of Building No. 7 of the Secretariat to the other. Flames of fire are also visible from outside.

Police and army members are assisting the Fire Service in controlling the fire. After the fire broke out in the initial stage, the number of police and army members was increased at the scene. After that, BGB members were deployed in the Secretariat area. Members of the three forces are now providing security in the Secretariat area and assisting the Fire Service in controlling the fire.

Incidentally, Rafi Al Farooq, duty officer of the Fire Service Control Room, confirmed the matter to the media about the fire at the Secretariat. However, the Fire Service official could not initially provide the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
