A man named Anwar Hussain of Shikarpur village in Habiganj Sadar upazila is suffering from insecurity due to threats from his opponents. When he comes to Habiganj, he has to come through Aliganj Bazar in Pukra Union. Near the market, some people including Aminul Haque, Enamul Haque and Nurul Haque, members of Darga Mia, son of Abdul Jabbar of Daulatpur village, demanded money. When Anwar refused to pay the money, they beat him up and threatened to kill him.
The mentioned people extorted money by threatening him with a case. There are even allegations of land grabbing against them. The mentioned people have been occupying Anwar’s land for a long time. When they resisted, they demanded money from him and threatened him. Since then, Anwar and his family have been suffering from insecurity. A case has been filed in Habiganj Court seeking redress in this regard.
