The July Uprising Cell has found the unclaimed bodies of six people killed in the anti-discrimination student movement in the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Initially, Shahbagh Police Station said that the bodies were from the anti-discrimination movement. However, the identities, time and date of death of the bodies were not known.

Cell Secretary Hasan Inam gave this information at a press conference organized in front of the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday.

In a written statement at the press conference, he said that the July Uprising Special Cell of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement found that there are six unidentified bodies of martyrs in the mass uprising in the Dhaka Medical College morgue during their investigation.

Yesterday (Friday) morning, a team from the cell went to Shahbagh Police Station to collect detailed information on the matter. Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khalid Mansur confirmed that six bodies are still in the cold storage. He said that the bodies are at the Dhaka Medical College Forensic Morgue. A special cell team went to the Dhaka Medical College Forensic Morgue and inspected the bodies on the spot.

According to the information provided by Hasan Inam, only the age of the bodies has been confirmed. The name of one has been known. The person’s name is Enamul (25). Among the bodies, there are five men and one woman. The five men are between 20 and 30 years old. The woman is 32 years old.

In a written statement, Hasan Inam said that the bodies have been autopsied. The autopsy has recorded ‘death due to trauma’ as the cause of death of the five. Enamul’s cause of death has been recorded as ‘death due to falling from a height’.

He said that the DNA of the bodies has been collected. Evidence of clothing on the body has been collected. All the bodies are currently kept in the forensic cold storage of Dhaka Medical College. Shahbagh Police Station said that the bodies are from the anti-discrimination movement. However, it did not clarify when and on what date they brought the bodies.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has requested the interim government and the concerned authorities to hand over these unidentified bodies to the families.
