The chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus has sought the British government’s help to bring back money smuggled from Bangladesh to the UK.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook paid a courtesy call on the Chief Adviser at Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna on Wednesday.
At this time Dr. Yunus seeks the British government’s help in bringing back the smuggled money.
After the meeting, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam informed the journalists in a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy.
Shafiqul Alam said, “We know through various international organizations that a lot of money was smuggled out of Bangladesh during the Sheikh Hasina government. A large number of people have built homes in the UK. How to bring back this huge amount of money that has been smuggled, asked for the help of the British government. Yunus.’
Shafiqul Alam mentioned that the government wants to bring back the smuggled money and use it for the reconstruction of the country.
Besides British High Commissioner Sarah Cook, Japanese Ambassador Iwama Kiminori paid a courtesy call on the Chief Adviser.
