These alleged leaders are filing false and fabricated cases against innocent people. After filing false cases with the sole intention of harassing them, threats are being made. The case baz clique is embezzling lakhs of taka along with the offer to settle the land dispute to get rid of the case. Such allegations have been found in the investigation.

It is learned that names are being inserted into the case to punish the other party to make up for the past. The plaintiff in several cases does not even know who the plaintiff is. This leaves the future of the case in the dark. On the other hand, the people are expressing their anger at the BNP.

Recently, allegations of involvement in extortion and litigation have been made against Syed Rahim Ali Rasu, the general secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Ward 24 BNP and the co-organizing secretary of Metropolitan BNP, and Zakir Hossain Parvez, an associate of the Awami League’s Tilagarh Group, and the newly-emerging BNP name.

However, Zakir’s Facebook profile shows that he has mentioned himself as the founder of Chhatra Dal Ward 24, the senior vice-president, former vice-general secretary of Chhatra Dal Sylhet district and a member of Sylhet Metropolitan BNP.

BNP sources say that he has not been seen in any BNP meeting or rally for the past 16 years. On the contrary, he worked for the Tilagarh Group during the previous Awami League government.

Reliable sources say that Parvez and Rasu are filing cases against those with whom they had a dispute over their family land and demanding extortion, and are even threatening to seize the land to avoid the case.

It is learned that many people were not in Sylhet on August 4, but this gang is harassing people by filing false cases using his name. Other plaintiffs have also been managed and cases have been filed. The source also confirmed that extortion was taken by threatening those cases.

The source also said that some people have collected national identity cards and filed cases through the court with fake signatures. And Rasu and Parvez are behind all this.

Rasu’s audio call has already gone viral. He was trying to save his own brother-in-law, the Chhatra League terrorist Sabbir, from the case.

Along with this, a notice has also been issued against Rasu on specific charges of acting against party discipline and tarnishing the party’s image. In that notice, Rasu was accused of harassing the common people and taking advantage of them by filing cases after the student movement of July-August 2024.

In a notice sent to the media on January 9, it was mentioned that such allegations against Rasu tarnished the image of the party and were against party discipline. An investigative team of the media went to the field to collect information about Rasu-Parvez. After a long investigation, this information was collected from various sources.

The relevant source said that the names of some people from various areas including Terratan, Saidanibag, Sadatikar, Sonarpara, Mirapara, Upashahar, Tooltikar in the city with whom Rasu had a dispute over his place have been included in the alleged case. It is known that Rasu and Parvez have old disputes with all of them.

Talking to some people from Terratan area, they said on condition of anonymity that Rasu’s family has been in a dispute with other families over land for a long time. When cases started being filed in the country after Sheikh Hasina fled the country on August 5, Rasu included several innocent people in the case to satisfy her personal anger. Along with this, she included everyone who spoke against Rasu in the dispute over the land.
They also said that the plaintiff in the case himself does not know when, how or why the case was filed. The case was filed in the court by collecting some national identity cards and using a fake signature, and Rasu was assisted in this by an alleged BNP supporter named Zakir Hossain Parvez of Mirapara.

Sources said that Parvez also included Selim, son of the deceased freedom fighter Abdus Salam of Shaplabagh area, in the case. It is also known that there was a previous dispute with Selim over Parvez’s land. However, Selim was a close acquaintance of the missing BNP Organizing Secretary M. Elias Ali.

In addition, Selim has been involved with the BNP since 1990. Meanwhile, the source confirmed that Selim has contacted Tahsina Rushdir Luna, the wife of the missing BNP Organizing Secretary M. Elias Ali and advisor to the BNP Chairperson, regarding his case and sought justice.

Some people from the Saidnibag area, who did not want to be named, said that Rasu has filed a case in the name of some innocent people from our area. According to him, their names have been included in the case. However, they are not involved in any political organization. They said, we will hold a meeting in the area on these issues and meet the top local leaders of Sylhet district and metropolitan BNP.

It was learned from the investigation that anyone who spoke on behalf of Rasu or whose defendant he has included in the case.

The residents of Terratan, Saidanibagh, Sadatikar, Sonarpara, Mirapara, Upashahar, Tooltikar and other surrounding areas of the city are in fear over Rasu Parvez’s business dealings.

When contacted, Shahparan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monir Hossain said, “We investigate the cases that come to us from the court for investigation and submit a report.” He said, “The cases filed in the police station are also investigated thoroughly and recorded. The police are working to ensure that no innocent person is accused.” He said, “Our IG sir has ordered us to investigate and record any case.” He added, “We are also receiving many such complaints, and we are investigating and taking action.”

When contacted, Syed Rahim Ali Rasu said, “A malicious group is giving false and fabricated information to politically humiliate me.” He said, “I have no dispute with anyone about my land, but there is a case with the government about my land.” He said, “I have responded to the party notice. I will accept whatever decision the party takes.”

He also said, “Seeing the role of my party activities, a group of people are making false allegations out of jealousy to belittle me in front of the party.” Regarding the case, he said, “I have not filed any case. These reports are not correct.”

On the other hand, attempts to contact Zakir Hossain Parvez regarding the allegations have not been successful. It was not possible to get his statement.
