Case filed in South Surma over murder of elder brother by younger brother

A case has been filed in South Surma, Sylhet over murder of elder brother by younger brother.

On Tuesday (February 25), the wife of deceased Khasru Mia filed the murder case as the plaintiff.

The deceased is Md. Khasru Mia (30), son of Manfar Ali of Bharout village in Lalabazar union of South Surma upazila. However, the police have not been able to arrest any accused till the time of writing this report.

It is learnt that on Saturday (February 22) night, there was an argument between younger brother Md. Kalam and elder brother Khasru Mia over a land dispute. At one stage, Khasru Mia hit him on the head and he fell on the ground. Later, his relatives rescued him and admitted him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Later, he died at around 1:45 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of South Surma Police Station Md. Mizanur Rahman said that they were living in a joint family. The younger brother was working in Dhaka and came to the house to build a house. The incident occurred at a stage of discussion about the division of land. He said that the wife of the deceased Khasru Mia has filed a case as a plaintiff. The younger brother of the deceased Md. Kalam and his wife have been made accused in the case. However, a drive is underway to arrest the accused.
