Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation is located in Srimangal, Moulvibazar. The organization’s work is to serve endangered and threatened wildlife. From 2012 to 2024, the Wildlife Service Foundation has rescued 658 wildlife from localities in different areas of Srimangal and Kamalganj and returned them to the forest. These animals include rare species.

The authorities of the Wildlife Service Foundation said that 38 animals were rescued from localities in 2023 and 37 in 2024. Most of the rescued animals are pythons. In addition, monkeys, shy monkeys, fish cats, leopard cats, wild cats, various types of owls, madontak, muniya birds, vultures, hawks, conch snakes, geckos, red eyed snakes, gray phoenimansa, etc. Conscious circles believe that these animals have come from the forest in search of food or have lost their way and have run into the locality. These animals that run from the forest are sometimes killed by unsuspecting people. They are also crushed to death by the wheels of various vehicles while crossing the road.

Swapan Dev Sajal, director of the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation in Srimangal, said that animals have always used the deserted forest as their safe habitat. The environment of the Lauachhara forest is no longer what it used to be. The forest environment is being destroyed due to the large number of tourists. There is no food for animals in the forest. In addition, the forest environment has been destroyed as many trees in the forest have been stolen. Therefore, wild animals are running around in search of food and safe shelter. At some point, these animals come to the locality and endanger their lives.
Locals demand that if they do not prevent free movement in the forest, take strict measures to protect the forest, ensure food for wild animals and restore the forest environment, then one day the hills will be empty, there will be no trees, no animals.
