Tourist drowns in Jaflong

A tourist named Nayan Mia (13) drowned while visiting Jaflong, a tourist destination in Sylhet, on Eid.

His body was recovered from the Zero Point area of ​​the Piain River in Jaflong at 4:30 pm on Monday (March 31).

Initial information has revealed that the deceased Nayan Mia’s home is in Dirai Upazila of Sunamganj district.

According to police and local sources, Nayan Mia went to visit the Jaflong tourist center in Sylhet with some friends on Eid. Some of his friends and others went to bathe in the river near Zero Point in Jaflong. At one point while bathing, he was pulled by the current and drowned in the water. Later, his companions and locals rescued him and took him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Gowainghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarkar Tofail Ahmed confirmed the matter. He said the body of the deceased will be handed over to the family after completing the legal process.
