A student has been sent back home after posting a ‘love’ emoji on an anti-India social media post. The student studied at Assam’s National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar. India’s state news agency PTI reported the news on Tuesday.
Assam’s Cachar District Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta said on Tuesday that the student “has not been expelled from the country”. He was sent back to his country after discussing with the Bangladeshi authorities.
SP Numal Mahatta said that the student, in the fourth semester of Electronics and Communication Department at NIT Silchar, was sent back to Bangladesh through the integrated check post located at Sutarkandi in Karimganj district on Monday.
