The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief said that four more people died in the floods caused by heavy rains and water coming from India. With this, the death toll in 11 flood-affected districts rose to 31.
On the other hand, the number of people affected by the floods that lasted for more than a week exceeded 5.8 million.
KM Ali Reza, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, gave this information at a press conference on the flood situation at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.
He said that the maximum number of people died in the flood till Wednesday afternoon in Comilla. A total of 12 people died in the district.
Besides, five people died in Chittagong, six in Noakhali, three in Cox’s Bazar, two in Feni, one in Khagrachari, one in Brahmanbaria and one in Lakshmipur.
Apart from this, Ali Reza also said that two people are missing in Moulvibazar.
According to the latest information from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, 12 lakh 27 thousand 554 families are still trapped in water due to floods. On Tuesday this number was 12 lakh seven thousand 429.
Besides, the number of affected people has increased to 58 lakh 22 thousand 734 people, which was 56 lakh 19 thousand 375 people on Tuesday.
Among the affected people, 540,500 have taken shelter in 4,000 shelters, according to the government.
Besides, about 40,000 cattle have also been kept in the shelter.
