Photo: Collected. Tani Laila, the only daughter of renowned South Asian singer Runa Laila, has expressed her indignation over reports and AI-generated videos claiming that her mother is “battling for her life.” She confirmed that her mother is alive and in perfect health.

Tani is currently staying with her family in the United States. She confirmed Runa Laila’s well-being in a social media post while simultaneously voicing her anger against the spread of fake news and misleading AI-generated content.

Tani wrote that she is “truly annoyed and fed up” with the practice of spreading such posts, AI-generated YouTube videos, and fake news merely for the sake of making a little money.

She further wrote, “I will personally start reporting such content—one by one—until these dim-witted people stop their malicious activities.”

Tani also reflected on her mother’s long musical career. She said, “My mother has dedicated six decades of her life to the service of music. Yet, people continue to disrespect her in this manner—it is a matter of utter shame and humiliation for us!”

Reiterating that Runa Laila is in good health, Tani clarified, “My mother is alive and completely healthy; no one has died, nor is anyone on their deathbed—these are all videos and images created using AI.”

Urging an end to such rumors, Tani added, “I can’t tolerate this anymore… to those who follow Runa Laila, please report such accounts.”

This is not the first time rumors regarding Runa Laila’s death have circulated. Recently, there has been a rise in the trend of spreading AI-generated fake videos and misleading information about celebrities on social media, often placing the stars and their families in embarrassing situations.

Meanwhile, Runa Laila has remained active in musical events in recent times. Last month, the legendary artist performed at two concerts held in two Australian states. Prior to that, he also performed at a solo musical event organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
