Call to Keep Law Enforcement Agencies Free from Political Influence

Dhaka //

The Democratic United Front has called for ensuring an environment where law enforcement agencies can operate effectively and remain free from political influence. Leaders stated that it is the state’s responsibility to ensure the fulfillment of people’s basic needs, civil rights, economic security, and the safety of life and property. They emphasized that the practice of burdening the public with one crisis after another must cease.

The leaders made these remarks yesterday, Tuesday, at a protest rally organized by the Democratic United Front in front of the National Press Club. The rally was held to protest the hike in fuel prices, the unchecked rise in the cost of essential commodities, shortages of gas, electricity, and water, and the deteriorating law and order situation.

Presided over by Abdullah Kafi Ratan, Coordinator of the Democratic United Front and General Secretary of the CPB, and moderated by Moinuddin Chowdhury Liton, a central leader of BASAD (Mahbub), the rally was addressed by Bazlur Rashid Firoz, Nazmul Haque Pradhan, Masud Rana, Moshrefa Mishu, Nazrul Islam, Rajat Huda, Abdul Ali, and Syed Harun-or-Rashid, among others.
