A chase-and-chase clash took place between businessmen and gas-powered autorickshaw CNG (Forstock) drivers in Bandar Bazar area, the heart of Sylhet. At least 30 people were injured on both sides. Meanwhile, 5 business establishments and several autorickshaws were vandalized.

The incident took place on Thursday (September 12) in front of City Super Market in Bandarbazar area of ​​Sylhet city around 1.30 am. After receiving the news of the incident, the SMP police reached the spot and brought the situation under control after about two and a half hours.

It is known that there was a conflict between the two of them for a long time regarding passenger boarding in front of City Super Market. The traders stopped auto-rickshaw parking in front of the market, but the auto-rickshaw drivers paid no heed. When an autorickshaw driver went to pick up the fare in front of the market on Thursday, the traders asked him to move the vehicle from there. At one point, an argument started between the two of them. In such a situation, when other autorickshaw drivers came forward and beat up the trader, the traders in the market were also beaten, and a clash started between the two sides. This clash went on for about an hour and a half. Meanwhile, autorickshaw drivers vandalized 5 shops of traders. On the other hand, angry traders vandalized 20-25 vehicles. At least 30 people were injured on both sides. Sylhet Metropolitan Police reached the spot after receiving information about this incident and brought the situation under control with the assurance of reconciliation.

Shahriar Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (North) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police confirmed the truth of this matter. He said both sides have been told to remain calm now the situation is normal.
