Joint forces have recovered a large quantity of illegal Indian cloth in a special operation in Sylhet’s Jaintapur.

The consignment was seized in an early morning raid in Jaintapur Upazila’s Darbast Bazaar area on Friday (September 20). The smuggler and the driver in the Amoy DI pickup fled.

The recovered products are 622 pieces of sarees, 132 pieces of three pieces, 64 pieces of thana cloth and 375 yards of thana cloth. However, the price of the product was not immediately known.

According to local and police sources, a speeding DI pickup overtook the army vehicle early on Friday morning. If suspected, the pickup was quickly seized. The smugglers ran away. Preparations are underway to file a case against unknown persons in the police station.
