Chairman of Rahimpur Union Parishad and Joint General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Iftekhar Ahmed Badrul, brother of former Agriculture Minister Kamlanj, was arrested in the operation of joint forces.

He was arrested from Rahimpur Union Parishad office around 2 pm on Sunday (September 29).

Moulvibazar Superintendent of Police MKH Jahangir Hossain (PPM-Service) confirmed the arrest and said, “Joint forces arrested Rahimpur UP Chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Badrul in a raid.” He was arrested in connection with the attack on anti-discrimination students.

Tofail Ahmed Sharif, a college student of Sanjarpur village of Sharifpur union of Kulaura upazila, recently filed a case as the plaintiff in Moulvibazar Sadar Model Police Station. In that case, the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture along with others. Md. Abdus Shaheed’s younger brother Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary and Rahimpur UP Chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Badrul was made an accused.

Gazi Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Moulvibazar Sadar Model Police Station, said that the detained Rahimpur UP Chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Badrul was arrested in a case filed at Model Police Station in connection with the attack on anti-discrimination students and sent to jail through Moulvibazar Court.
