Sisic general and reserved councilors and officials held a sit-in program and peace rally in connection with the attack and vandalism at the residence of Sylhet City Corporation Ward No. 20 Azadur Rahman Azad.

The program was held at Tilagarh Point of the city on Monday (01 July).

Sylhet City Corporation Acting Mayor Md Makhlishur Rahman Kamran presided over the meeting chaired by Ward No. 32 Councilor Md. Ruhel Ahmad, the speakers said, on behalf of all councilors and officers-employees of Sylhet City Corporation in the attack and vandalism of the residence of the 5-time elected councilor Azadur Rahman Azad of Ward No. 20. Strongly condemn. We demand that the terrorists be arrested immediately and brought under the law and punished.

Ward No. 5 Councilor Rezwan Ahmad, Ward No. 6 Councilor Farhad Chowdhury, Ward No. 8 Councilor Jagadish Chandra Das, Ward No. 10 Councilor Tarek Uddin Taj, Ward No. 11 Councilor Abdur Rakib Bablu, Ward No. 26 Councilor Mohammad Taufiq Bux spoke. Lipon, Ward No. 35 Councilor Jahangir Alam, Ward No. 39 Councilor Altaf Hossain Sumon and Chief Engineer Md. Iftekhar Ahmad Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Noor Azizur Rahman spoke on behalf of officers and employees.

General and reserved councilors and officials of different wards of Sylhet City Corporation were present.

Sylhet City Corporation announced a three-day program by holding an emergency meeting on Saturday under the direction of Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Md. Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury. On Sunday 1st day, 1 hour strike was observed in all councilor offices including city hall. On the 2nd day of Tilagarh point location program and today Tuesday (June 02), Sisik mayor and councilors will present the memorandum to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Local Government.
