The police recovered the body of a brick kiln worker from Surma river in South Surma area of Sylhet. On Tuesday (October 15) around 11 o’clock, a group of police from Dakshin Surma police station recovered the dead body of the worker from Jhalopara Mosque Ghat.
The deceased bricklayer is Md. son of Ataur Rahman of North Loharmahal of Jokiganj upazila. Kawsar Ahmad (35). He used to work in a brick kiln in Moglabazar of Dakshin Surma Upazila of Sylhet and lived there on rent. However, the police could not immediately say whether it was a murder or a natural death.
According to local and Pulim sources, the locals found the body of the deceased in the Surma river on Tuesday. After informing the Thana Police, South Surma Police reached the spot and recovered Kawsar’s body and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital Morgue for post-mortem after making a Surthal report. As the body of the victim was decomposed, no signs of injury could be immediately discerned. However, the police say that if they get the post-mortem report, it will be known whether it was a murder or a natural death.
