Chandu dacoit, a member of the inter-district dacoit team, brought a dacoit from Brahmanbaria and committed a dacoity in Shimangal. When the dacoit Chandu confessed during the police questioning, a team of police including Srimangal Police Inspector (Investigation) Sudipta Shekhar conducted a raid on Thursday night and arrested Muharam Ali (37) and Rashid Mia (27), members of the inter-district dacoit gang, from Gulhao and Durganagar villages of Srimangal upazila.
The arrested dacoit Muharram Ali is the son of Abdul Matin of Durganagar village and Muharram Ali is the son of Mofiz Mia of Gulgaon village.
According to Srimangal Police Station, a robbery took place at the house of Abdur Rashid of Laharpur Bihari Basti Village of Sindurkhan Union of Srimangal Upazila at around 2 am on August 31. The members of the dacoit gang beat Abdur Rashid along with his son and wife seriously injuring him and looted a total of Rs 11 lakh 69 thousand including gold ornaments, cash and mobile phones. A robbery case was registered in Srimangal police station in this incident. Later, a robber named Chandu Mia was arrested by the police in this incident of robbery. The arrested dacoit Chandu confessed under section 164 of the police, he brought some other dacoits including the arrested dacoits Maharram Ali and Rashid Mia from Brahmanbaria and they all committed a robbery in Srimangal.
