Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 8 Bangladeshis in a separate operation while infiltrating into India through Dharamgarh and Santoshpur border in Madhavpur district of Habiganj district.
BGB handed them over to the police station after their arrest on Tuesday (October 29). Before this, the BGB patrol arrested them in the early night.
The arrested are Parimal Sarkar (55) of Shahjadapur village of Sarail police station of Brahmanbaria district, Tapas Sarkar (50) of the same village, Swapan Sarkar (45), Durjoy Majumdar (19) of Mirzapur village of Vijaynagar police station of the same district, Ali (60) of Debnagar village of Madhavpur police station, Bechan Das (26), Manpuri Das (20) and Mangaldas (19) of Sarikait village of Sandeep police station in Chittagong district.
Dharamghar Border Outpost Company Commander Naib Subedar A. Rauf said that the detainees tried to go to India in search of treatment and work along the border with the help of brokers. At this time they were detained from the border.
Sarail 25 BGB battalion captain Lt. Colonel Farah Mohammad Imtiaz said that a regular case has been registered against the detained persons at Madhavpur police station.
