Awami League General Secretary and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal have called upon Azizul Islam, Independent Member of Parliament of Jessore-6 (Keshabpur) Constituency, to apologize to the students regarding the casualties in the conflict centered on the quota reform movement. At the same time, he expressed his condolences to the students and suggested a quick discussion in the current situation.

The member of Parliament made this call with a post on his Facebook page called KM Aziz on Thursday. He gave a long post titled ‘What can be done right now to remove the suffering of common students?’ Azizul Islam is the former leader of Keshabpur Upazila Chhatra League. In the 12th National Assembly elections, he was elected as a Member of Parliament after defeating District Awami League General Secretary Shaheen Chakladar in Jessore-6 constituency.

Students have no political identity, arresting them is unreasonable. If you want to normalize the situation, it will not be pleasant to arrest ordinary students. Right now the government should unconditionally release the ordinary students who have been arrested and organize a public dialogue with university VCs, education ministers, law ministers, parents, coordinators of the agitators and national professors to restore the situation of education in educational institutions.’

Wanting to put a gun on the shoulders of ordinary students and overthrow the government. Doing something like this will destroy the opportunity of the criminals. The most regrettable thing is that the two people who are most angry with the students, Mr. Obaidul Quader and the Home Minister, have not yet expressed their grief to the students. Of course, they should apologize to the students. In the post, he opined that the state needs to take effective initiatives to alleviate the anger of the students for the good of the country.

When asked, Member of Parliament Azizul Islam said that the death of the students has saddened him. They are responsible for the heated situation that has been created by the words of the Home Minister and Bridge Minister. In this situation, students should express their regret and apologize. He also thinks that it is not right to make all the students into Jamaat camps. He said that he will speak the words while standing in the National Parliament.
