900 sacks of Indian stolen sugar seized in Bahubale, 4 arrested

Joint forces have seized 900 sacks of Indian stolen sugar from a house in Maripur Bazar of Bahubal in Habiganj district. During this time cash 16 lakh 5 thousand 485 taka was recovered. Four smugglers were arrested.

Yesterday, Friday (November 1), the army, police and upazila administration conducted an operation from 2:00 p.m. till morning. On Friday night, joint forces raided the residence of businessman Rahmat Ali in Maripur Bazar after receiving information from secret sources. Meanwhile, 513 sacks of Indian sugar and 60 kg of cumin were seized from the ground floor and second floor of his house. Also 387 bags of sugar were seized from another place.
According to the army, smugglers used to store Indian sugar there and sell it in the market. That’s why they first filled the sugar sacks with local company fresh logo sacks and sealed the seats. Later it was sold in the market as fresh company sugar. Bag sewing machine and money counting machine were seized during the raid.
