BNP has written to the United Nations for an impartial, transparent and international investigation into the incidents of deaths across the country centered on the quota reform movement. On Tuesday, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and organizing secretary Shama Obaid handed over the application in this regard to the United Nations Resident Coordinator appointed in Bangladesh.

Earlier, in a press conference at BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan last Saturday evening, the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir informed about sending a letter to the United Nations on behalf of the party.

Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said, according to the decision of the party, an application to the United Nations has been requested by the United Nations to uncover the incident through an impartial, international and transparent investigation of the massacres that have taken place in the country under an illegal government.

He said, “There is a need to uncover the murders that have taken place in the political history of Bangladesh, the killings of citizens.” In order to destigmatize the nation, the massacres within the country and outside the country under the auspices of the government must be brought before the nation and the world. So that in the future, the desire to stay in power by killing the citizens of their own country does not arise in anyone. We have therefore requested the United Nations for a clean, impartial and acceptable investigation into such incidents. He said that they have also requested the interim government to tell the United Nations.

In response to a question about the case against Sheikh Hasina, he said,

Genocide will be investigated. Genocide was directly sponsored by the government. An investigation is needed. This does not mean that it is in conflict with the existing laws of the country. What will happen inside the country is a different matter.

This leader of BNP said, “If we cannot reveal the real facts through this investigation, then again the dictatorial government will try to stay in power by hiding and murdering.” We want to end it forever.”
