A Juba Dal activist was killed in a clash between two parties in Bahubal in Shahparan area of Sylhet. The incident occurred at around 10 pm on Monday. Police immediately arrested 6 people in the incident. No one’s name is being disclosed for the sake of investigation.
The deceased is Bilal Ahmed Munshi (34), son of Jahurul Islam of Bahor village in Bahubal residential area of Shahparan (RA) police station. He was a painter by profession.
It is learned that there had been a dispute between the former president of Bahubal area Tempu Moin and Islamabad Kumargaon of the two parties for a long time. On Monday evening, when tension arose between them, Shahparan (RA) Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Monir and Shahparan (RA) Investigation Center IC Sanaul along with their forces went to the spot and calmed the situation. Later, when they clashed again around 10 pm, a person named Bilal from Kumargaon side died. However, sources said that Bilal Ahmed was a Jubo Dal activist. No case has been filed with the police station till the time of writing this report.
When contacted on mobile phone, Shahparan (RA) Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Monir confirmed the incident to The Daily Morning Sun, saying that the police were able to arrest 6 people immediately. The operation to arrest others involved in the incident is ongoing. He said that after recovering the body of the deceased, it has been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
