The Shahparan (RA) Mazar Investigation Center Police Outpost has arrested two persons along with huge truckload of Indian sugar seized from Surma Gate Bypass Point in Sylhet.

On Sunday (December 8), around 5:30 pm, two persons were arrested along with a truckload of Indian sugar seized from in front of the Bonful shop in the Surma Gate Point area based on a secret tip-off.

The arrested persons are – Md. Shahid Ahmed (26), son of the deceased Sirajul Islam of Fatehpur (Islam Nagar) area of ​​Gowainghat Upazila, and Emon Ahmed (18), son of Sadh Ullah of Bagherkhal village of Fatehpur Union No. 5 of Jaintapur Upazila. At that time, 431 bags of Indian sugar loaded in the truckload of Indian sugar in their custody were recovered. The market value of which is estimated at 25,34,280/ (five lakh thirty four thousand two hundred and eighty) taka.

Police said that smugglers have been smuggling various types of illegal Indian goods through the Jainta, Gowainghat and Kanaighat border areas along the Sylhet-Tamabil Highway Road. Several operations have been conducted before this. As part of that regular operation, on the instructions of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Shahparan (RA) Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monir conducted an operation yesterday, Sunday, with the assistance of Shahparan (RA) Shrine Investigation Center Outpost Police SI (retd) Sanaul Islam. He and his accompanying force were able to arrest two people along with the seizure of a truck full of Indian sugar.
